3 ways to save time creating your Instagram Content
(even when it’s just you!)
Are you feeling overwhelmed or even frustrated trying to keep up with the quantity and quality of content you need for social media?
Hi, I’m Lorna Taylor, an Instagram Teacher and Content Strategist helping entrepreneurs and business owners get more visible online.
I help to speed up and streamline the content creation process so your Instagram is purposeful and productive. I’m going to share with you 3 ways you can save time doing just that.
I bet you’re the best in your industry, you know your stuff, you help people and you have the potential to help so many more people – but if no one sees you, they aren’t going to know how awesome you are. They aren’t going to be able to buy from you or work with you.
Let’s change that! And the first step is showing up!
Let’s turn your Instagram into an effective marketing tool for your business, without getting overwhelmed or making it complicated, and use your content to boost your online visibility.
So let’s jump into 3 ways to save time creating your Instagram Content (even when it’s just you!)
- Take advantage of templates
If you’ve shared content on social media, then you’ve probably used Canva for post templates before – but did you know there is also a whole video library on there to help you make reels more easily!
You’d be able to use the text, the animation and the framework for the clips that’s on there as a template. So you can swap out the text for something else that you want to say. You could change the font, the colours, the words so that it shows what you want to say.
There is also a reels template feature on Instagram itself. This allows you to use the way someone else has edited their reel as a framework for yours. Look out for the ‘Use Template’ button at the bottom of a reel which will allow you to add your media and have the clips automatically edited to match the audio of the music.

2. Batch or bake your content creation time
Create similar content in batches for the month or quarter – like having a mini photoshoot or filming session to create a bank of images/video clips you can pull from and use in various reels/stories/posts without having to create brand new stuff every day. This suits product based businesses best as you can use those photos/videos to update your online store too.
Alternatively you could ‘bake’ time into your daily/weekly schedule to do it as you go along. If you are not a ‘natural planner’ or someone who never manages to stick to any type of content calendar, then creating content as you go might feel more natural to you. You might have a business, especially service or events based, that lends itself to capturing more ‘documentary’ type content.
Either way, decide which system will most suit you and work best with your schedule and then commit to it and implement it.
3. Reuse, re-edit and repurpose your content
Just because you have already shared a piece of content, doesn’t mean everybody who needs to see it, has seen it. Reusing posts as they are or even re-editing them gets the most value from the time you spent creating it.
Repeating content helps to emphasise your message and build brand consistency. Have a bank of images/video clips either from a branding shoot or stuff you’ve taken yourself that you can dip back into and reuse.
If a piece of content really worked, think of how you can repurpose it into another format on Instagram or another format elsewhere in your marketing (email, blog, podcast, website).
Our main message doesn’t tend to change, but we have to keep mixing up the way we say it and how we share it in various forms.
