About Us
David Gilbert Jewellery is a family business with over 50 years (2022) Precious Metal Jewellery, Diamond & Colour Gemstone experience. From Brand recognition and Jewellery Design across an ever growing collection David Gilbert and his wife and business partner Chris Gilbert invite you to a wonderful Jewellery shopping experience!
My Father was born in Vittoria Street in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter (and now the home of the famous Birminghm Jewellery School) in 1929 and delivered Gold wire on the handlebars of his bike to the 100’s of Victorian workshops as well as acting as a ‘runner’ ‘gofor’ for just 1p per delivery and gave his average daily 10p to Grandma to help with a family of nine! His brother was the General Manager for the largest Horologists Materials Company in the UK so I had Jewellery & Horology in my genes so to speak.
After several positions with Multiple and Independent Jewellers we opened our first store in the wonderful town of Leominster, Herefordshire in 1982 and after an amazing four years we sold it to the Head Buyer of H Samuel after an unsolicited offer.
Having lived near Aberystwyth for over 38 years and having our two children educated in Welsh and now with five wonderful grandchildren we have decided to invest our knowledge into our NEW Jewellery Designer ABERYSTWYTH store and website as of 29 October 2016.
‘Not your average Jeweller’ our aim is to offer Precious Jewellery from known and lesser known brands together with our mix of David Gilbert Jewellery.
Add to this a fine repair service, Valuations for Insurance & Probate and you have a wonderful service – we simply love it when our customers are thrilled – we welcome your visit!
