“When judging and selecting the winners for this year’s Bizbubble and Modern Maker Awards I was looking out for factors that supports the brand’s USP – looking mainly into the business not the product. Innovation in their approach to products, services, marketing, and operations as well as evidence of brand personality and brand values.

I was also focusing on business positioning and development over it’s lifetime, especially with the obstacles of the last few years, seeing how the business has adapted or pivoted to market changes.

Businesses that stood out for me were those that offer more, with integrity, who over deliver beyond their main products or service they are selling. Also taking into consideration those applicants that are sole traders and/or running their business on a part time basis due to other commitments.

As a judge I’m also looking out for businesses that make a positive impact on their community, who are showing evidence of social responsibility, honesty and transparency through their selling platform, social media and google searches.


I was also looking for businesses that had the ability to motivate and inspire me and their audience to conjur up inspiring thoughts and ideas and make me go ‘WOW’ regardless of the product or service they are offering to feel a connection.

Importantly, when selecting from the finalists I considered the potential for the business scalability and growth.

And finally, I favoured those where I could visualise how Bizbubble and Brandstorm Consultancy can add value to their brands to see the potential of how our prizes can help support their business growth to succeed in the future.”
