Meet Indelible Think
I write content that makes your customers' hearts hammer in their chests like they're legging it for the last bus.
Hey, I’m Matt, copywriter at Indelible Think and winner of the Biz Bubble Best Blogging Biz Award 2023.
Wowza, waiting for that announcement was stressful.
Being a writer and not winning the award solely for writing content would have been a right kick in the downstairs joy department. So, with my nadgers now safe from bruising, here’s a little bit about:
- How I became a writer
- My work process
- What makes me a little bit different
And other random stuff.
How I became a freelance copywriter.
I’ve always written.
I’d won awards at school, written columns in match day programmes for non-league football teams, dabbled in fan fiction, taken creative writing courses and written a book of short stories and a novel.
Yet, I was stuck in Payroll for twelve years.
I was crap at Payroll, and believe me, I winged that job for every single one of those twelve years.
Then one day, I was told I was being made redundant with an 18-month notice period (when a payroll system is outsourced, you have to make sure it transfers properly with months of identical parallel pay runs before they release you). And when that happened, a lightbulb went off in my head:
“Why the hell am I not writing for a living?”
So, I researched writing jobs, came across copywriting, enrolled on a course and gained a diploma in it. After one more year of working in Payroll (and working evenings and weekends on some small writing jobs), I leapt into full-time freelancing.
That was in 2018, and I haven’t looked back since.
How I work.
The main stipulation in how I work is that it must be fun.
Working with people who don’t respect the creative process and are, let’s be honest, bullies, I won’t work with.
Been there. Done that. Burnt the T-shirt.
When you work with a copywriter, we’re both on the same team and share the same goal: making your business impossible to ignore.
After contacting me, if I feel your project is the right fit, I’ll send a brief tailored to your unique needs and schedule a call with you too.
Why?
Because no matter how great that written brief is, hearing your voice, your passion and the words you use when talking about your business will make it easier for me to write. You’ll describe what you do a lot more colourfully than you will when writing it down.
And it’s those precious soundbites that’ll help me make you sound pretty damn awesome.
What makes me different?
Like I say, I make it fun.
I’m completely professional, but I will joke and make the project as enjoyable as possible.
As a business owner, I know what it’s like trying to get your business seen and heard. And I’ve struggled with poor mental health and have been in therapy at various times throughout my life, so I’m extremely patient, understanding and empathetic.
Running a business is stressful and can have an adverse effect on your health.
Working with me makes life a little brighter – and you get some great, chatty written copy at the end, as well as a smile or twelve.
Who I work with.
I’ve written for all sorts of clients from all kinds of backgrounds. My preferred writing style is chatty, fun and laid-back (let me use puns and I’ll love you forever). If that’s not you, that’s okay. I can write in the tone of voice you prefer.
I’ve written about all sorts of subjects, including:
- Mental health
- Coaching
- Sustainability
- Lamps and lighting
- Timber frame construction
- Web design
- Marketing
- Antiques
- Energy drinks
- International Shipping
- On-pack advertising
- Gardening
- Weddings
- Boilers
And a heap more, including premature ejaculation (which, ironically, didn’t take me as long to write as I expected).
I write web pages, blog posts, slogans, case studies, product descriptions, and pretty much anything else you need writing, digital or print (except White Papers).
