Meet Artisans Life

Our story

Born in Nigeria and based in London, having drop out of college at the age of 16, Nosa is inspired by his surroundings. Like most of us, his stylistic development has been a learning curve.

Starting at an early age, at school he Wondered how the “cool kids”
appeared to make the same standard-issue uniform look so different, Nosa
sought to compete with the other kids but soon realised that each one had
their own unique style. Nosa then started to incorporate accessories into his
outfits, enabling him to bring his own personal style to the fore.

Our inspirations

This insight gradually developed into Nosakhari and his quest for originality
and boldness became the label’s thematic philosophy. For Nosa, designing
pieces that one could wear as a point of differentiation from the crowd –
turning heads in admiration over prejudice and aiding self-expression – has
always been the driving ambition.

Our materials and processes

At Artisans our team develops DIY leather products that fit into people’s everyday lives that can be easily crafted at home without the need for specialist tools or equipment. We work to provide people with useful products and resources to promote the benefits of craft, self-development and wellness.

What makes us different

Having been developed alongside leather goods brand Nosakhari, the Artisans team has a wealth of experience in both designing and making unique leather craft products. We are a group of diverse craftspeople with a wide range of creative backgrounds, who are passionate about what we do, and intent on spreading our love of craft beyond the Artisans lab and sharing it with other people. This is what makes Artisans different. Despite being modern in design and just over a year old, Nosakhari has decades worth of leathercraft experience from some of the most talented leather craft artisans in the UK. We know what makes a good crafting experience and how to curate that for you at home. Most of all, we love what we do and we think it shows in what we create.

Our ethics

All of our crafting experiences are made and packaged by hand in the Artisans’ Hackneybased lab. We aim to use up waste when we can and design to incorporate off-cuts of our quality leather, such as with our Keyring Kits and Key Wrap Kits. We use Veg Tan leather which is naturally treated.

Artisans is currently reaching out to schools to offer a unique crafting experience for students, enhance the arts and creative curriculum and inspire the next generation of artisans. Our packages are tailored to schools needs and budgets and we were delighted with the reaction from children and teachers who were involved in our pilot program.
