The Story Behind Angela Chick
I’m based in Southsea, right by the beach on the south coast of the UK but grew up over in Canada (so don’t be surprised if you notice an accent!)
I began working on a range of products in my spare time, selling them at local markets and fairs from London to Brighton and a few places in between. While growing my business I worked as an arts educator delivering workshops to both children and adults. I spent a few years working in a full time artist-residency where I wrote, designed and had published three books on working creatively in early education.
My budding business soon grew to a point where I couldn’t keep up my day job as well so I took the leap into full time self-employment (YIKES!) That was over five years ago and here I am, still going strong. Alongside my greeting cards and gifts I have also created content for magazines, commercial clients, bands, restaurants, small creative businesses and more.
I aim to create designs that help you get a message across. To help you find the words that might be a bit difficult, or on the tip of your tongue. I also want to make people smile so I create playful, bright and bold designs.
Tour Round the Store
Angela has a very nice NEW website wahoo which sells many different funky items. So, where to start? Let’s go with the amazing cards you can choose from. There’s absolutely loads, for every occasion that you can think of. And when I say every, I mean every. Angela has clearly put so much thought into her range including cards for Hanukkah, Palentine’s Day and Vegans!
You can also pick yourself up some very cool notebooks from £5, snazzy pins from £7, and very useful to do lists from £7. Obviously I’ve spent a huge amount of time on the website because there really are so many items to browse in her shop! There’s even soy wax candles (amazing!) and some incredibly funky gift wrap to get your message across to the lucky recipient.
I love the themes, colours and messages in the items across the shop, it’s incredible to think Angela has drawn these designs herself! A-mazing!!
Angela very kindly sent me some cards of my choice and after much deliberation I picked these beauties…
First off I’d like to point out that these are VERY high quality and the designs are just so bold and bright to stand out perfectly. Angela is so so talented because quite frankly, so much effort goes into each card. I really can’t wait to use these for friends and family and help promote Angela’s business some more for her (the back of the cards has her logo on).
The Little Touches
- When my little package arrived it had such a cute sticker on the outside so this was a great start. Inside, Angela had written me a lovely personalised note which I thought was a really nice touch.
- Inside my package, amongst the items, were some beautifully designed double sided business cards and also a really informative A5 sized card (below!). It has info about Angela and her business and a super cool Scan Me code! I can confirm this does work as when I was trying to take the photos it kept scanning and trying to open Angela’s website!
Keep your eyes peeled because launching soon is a very cute new pin set which consists of two halves of a rainbow that come together as a best friend set. Cuteness overload or what!? This is a really unique idea I haven’t seen before so I really can’t wait for this.
