Meet 'The Ives'
I started making my first ‘Dreamer’ sleep oil for my 4 year old son who, at the start of the pandemic was struggling with sleep and I (along with a lot of others) was feeling anxious…
I discovered Magnesium and mixed it with essential oils, blending the best of modern Science and ancient wisdom. It worked so well on him that I just had to make an adult’s sleep version. I was then unfortunately made redundant during Christmas 2020 so decided it was the right me to share my sleep oils with the world.
I love anything natural and feel inspired by innovative people and brands that have completely natural products in natural packaging. It’s the way we all need to be thinking, there was no way I was ever going to put ‘The Ives’ products in plastic bottles! My role models are people such as Liz Earl who makes all her products using natural fresh ingredients.
My hand-made products are all natural, with no chemicals or fillers – they only contain pure essential oils, glass bottles, labels and packaging that is sourced from the UK. The magnesium I use is pumped to the surface using warm water from 2 miles under the earths crust so theres no mining that could damage the earth.
As my product started out life being made for children I wanted to make them easy and fun to use, also tapping into other natural benefits such as the large roller-ball. The roller is supposed to gently tickle little ones feet as you apply the oil which makes them laugh and as well as making bedtime more fun, laughing actually serves to release the bodies natural hormone Melatonin, which is needed for sleep. This means the roller-ball has four benefits, first with the laughter releasing the Melatonin, second the bonding ritual that can be a moment to share worries each night. Then there are the essential oils that will go via the nose to the brain and finally the magnesium, which will soak into the skin during a short massage!
I also wanted the adult version to be easy and quick to use but also give a moment of self care each night so the adult roller can be rolled on the calves and massaged in to give a lovely moment just for you each night.
In June 2021 my Sleep oils won a ‘Commended’ award in the ‘Beauty Shortlist 2021’ Self Care category, which was the start of a few awards for the products!
